Join us for this sweet Thursday Art Afternoons in the studio! (3 sessions) November is: all things gratitude for meals + community + more!
Who: Children ages 5 – 9 (ish)

What: In this creative, fun, child drop-off after-school workshop, we will jump right into creative projects in the studio! Our approach integrates the natural world and our theme linked to books, art history or contemporary artists, and a bunch of engaging projects that layer in diverse and playful methods of craft, fine art and collaborative methods of art making. November is all sweet, joyful art all things gratitude for meals + community + more! We will make a gratitude/thank-you book, small corn husk doll(s), do weaving (paper plus loom!), learn a bit about Maine’s 1st nations, and also create a hand-printed funky cloth (could be a table runner) and more.
Plus some fun little surprises related to the theme and energy of the group always make their way in. We use mostly all natural, post-consumer (with found paper to mix in with leaves for paper-making) materials, or acid free paper for honoring our work and process. This will be a joyful and productive month.
Cost: $25 per session, $75 total and for 1.5 + hrs plus all the amazing materials. Please let us know if you need sliding scale to attend, so we can try to support you if we can. And if you can chip in extra to help another child attend, and provide for someone else to attend, please do and thank you!
Where: At the studio – Love Lab Studio @ 26 Brackett Street, Portland Maine
When: Thursday afternoons, 3:45 – 5:15 pm / (3 wk session!) Thursday November 7, 14, 21.
Some details:
Children are dropped off at 3:45. Please have a little snack before you arrive! We know that some children can’t arrive right at 3:45 – that’s okay! Just let us know. We won’t have snacks for this workshop, but we will do water/tea breaks as needed.
Ages. Ages are 5 – 9, but we take the suggestion and lead of parents to know if their 4 year old is ready for a long art class – and also we have had an older sibling who is 9 – 10 and totally loves the class! Please reach out if you have any questions.
Things helpful to bring: For children please bring a water bottle (we have cups for water too if you forget), a little sweater, and a cozy pair of slippers if you have them (socks are OK too, but slippers nicer for children sometimes) to wear in our studio. If you need a sibling discount (1/2 off second child) please contact us if you need this option and we can set it up for you! Prior to starting class (we’ll have it in the studio), each student caregiver will need to sign and return our student info sheet packet (includes media form, release form, and other important info). Price includes all materials!
We can’t wait to get in the studio with you all!
