Description
gratitude + action workshop
Join us in the studio for a creative workshop inspired by community + family gatherings.
This is how we approach art-making for Thanksgiving, that many families celebrate (and some don’t, but they still gather in community to eat!)
We will create “gratitude and action” leaves that you can make art and bouquets from – papers + materials with decorations and words from prompts we will provide. You can also repeat this project in your circles + communities or just at home to keep building connection + creativity. We will also be making fabric mats to decorate and adorn our tables.
Note that we are making the gratitude + action leaf project at both the sign-up workshops and drop-in! The table fabric mat is just for the sign-up workshops!
We will also give a portion of profits and learn about the beautiful work in Maine of Mano en Mano and their childcare center, Rayitos de Sol. (The English translation of Mano en Mano is “hand in hand” and Rayitos de Sol is “little sunbeams”.) A portion of proceeds from our shop and workshops will support their work.

For the safety and health of all, we are working hard to stay open and keep our community well. If you or your child is sick, please don’t come and reschedule! If you have a cough or any questions, please mask up! Our ceiling fans and air filter will be running. We will revisit our COVID and healthy community policy as we go. We DO encourage you, if you are sick in any way or feel worried, to pop your mask on or reschedule. We are also back to hand-washing to stay on top of this as well. Thank you!

Our space, Love Lab Studio, is fun and joyful, bright. The design is thoughtfully curated for the needs of children. We are located at 26 Brackett Street, a mixed residential and retail neighborhood in the West End of Portland. Usually, you can find parking close or nearby on one of the neighborhood streets.

teachers Lead teachers often include Christina Bechstein with our teaching team + visiting artists. We always have 2 teachers (sometimes just 1 with parent/child to save space!) , and sometimes a teaching intern will join Christina) We all work together. As artists, art teachers, creatives, and art therapists, we are invested in creating safe nurturing, whole-heart, joyful spaces for children. We are very skilled in many pedagogies and have years of teaching experience in private and public schools and also college-level. We work to set up a caring and super creative environment, and we see it as a complete honor to support your children’s voice and creativity!
