Join us for one of our sweet art afternoons : wonderful art Wednesdays in the studio! (3 sessions) February theme: SHADOW PUPPET THEATER!
Who: Children ages 4 – 8
Teaching Team: Christina Mesevage + Christina Bechstein
What: In this little creative fun child drop-off after school workshop, we will playfully explore shadow puppets and shadow puppet theater! Each child will make their own little theater to take home, their own puppets, write a little show, and be a part of making a big shadow puppet stage in the studio! For February’s session, it will be our magical shadow puppet theater will be so fun. We’ll do lots of different creative art mediums related to this topic, and of course some kind of creative valentine making will pop up because of the month this falls into!
Cost: $25 per session, $75 total + includes 2 teachers for 1.5+ hrs, all the amazing materials, plus an exhibit bonus at the end! Please let us know if you need sliding scale to attend, so we can support you. And if you can chip in extra to help another child attend, please do and thank you.
Where: At the studio – Love Lab Studio @ 26 Brackett Street, Portland Maine
When: Wednesday afternoons, 3:30 – 5 pm / (3 wk session!) Wednesday Feb 6, Feb 13, Feb 27. Note: some children because of school dismissal need to come at 3:45 – no problem, please just let us know and we can adjust accordingly.
ALSO! We aren’t meeting during winter break, but we have a winter art camp that week, so check that out if you will be wanting to fit in some amazing art-making during break! Final art show: For this class we will again have a final celebration and display some of our work on Friday, March 1st for Portland’s First Friday, 4 – 8 pm.
SOME DETAILS
Children are dropped off at 3:30. Please have a little snack before you arrive! We know that some children can’t arrive right at 3:30 – that’s okay! Just let us know. We won’t have snacks for this workshop, but we will do water/tea breaks as needed. For the final 3 class series we will share again some of our for 1st Friday, optional, but please know you are invited!
Things helpful to bring: For children please bring a water bottle (we have cups for water too), a little sweater, and a cozy pair of slippers if you have them (socks are OK too) to wear in our studio. We will have 1 make-up class available if needed for children, plus we’ll add an additional make-up week if needed, incase we have a snow day OR children get sick. Sibling discount taken when you choose 2 children, for a 1/2 off discount for 2nd child, please contact us if you need this option! Prior to starting class, each student caregiver must sign and return our student info sheet packet (includes media form, release form, and other important info). For snow days and missed classes, we will have a make-up day or 2 available, don’t worry! Price includes all materials!
