We are so excited to finally launch a little Saturday afternoon weaving class!

This is going to be so good!
Weaving is such a fun, meditative, and powerful craft to learn and practice.
It is one of the earliest documents crafts of humankind, and is practiced all over the world!

Each child will learn basic weaving and work on multiple projects to take home!
Each child will:
– get their own new hardwood, Harrisville lap loom to weave on (and keep!)
– learn hand weaving on their own small wooden lap loom to work on in studio + at home
– weave and then sew from our cloth a little stuffy cat (if time a small bag!)
– learn about and work on a collaborative and small individual weaving, on our 4 -harness floor loom + learn about and work on collaborative circle weavings
– really leave feeling accomplished and proud of their creations!

Dates:  3.21, 3.28, 4.11
* please note, we skip a weekend for holidays
Who: Mixed Ages (6 – 14)

***Includes all materials to weave with, plus a small wooden lap loom to keep!

Teacher:
Christina will be the lead teacher, with fun art assistants. Christina has a background in weaving/fibers at youth and many college programs. One of her favorite crafts, and we just can’t wait to bring it to you:)

Our space, Love Lab Studio, is fun and joyful, bright. The design is thoughtfully curated for the needs of children. We are located at 26 Brackett Street, a mixed residential and retail neighborhood in the West End of Portland. Usually, you can find parking close or nearby on one of the neighborhood streets.

> Each parent/guardian must sign our online forms (including media form, release form, and other important info).
> Come ready to have fun and become a part of the studio! It’s always good to wear clothes, it’s OK to get dirty too. We will detail all of this in our welcome email.

teachers For drop-off workshops, lead teachers often include Christina Bechstein with our teaching team + visiting artists. We are very skilled in many pedagogies and have years of teaching experience in private and public schools, as well as at the college level. We work to create a caring, super-creative environment, and we see it as a complete honor to support your children’s voices and creativity!
