Afternoon Studio: Art + Social Change Fridays! 3:30pm – 5:15pm
A great way to end the week, this afterschool workshop, “Art + Social Change Fridays”, will engage in individual expressions and also a collaborative service-learning/public art project with a real community partner and engage in some real creative entrepreneurship thinking + making connected to the Love Lab Studio shop. Children will also engage in playful, fun, independent, and guided time in the studio! Each series will connect in a healthy and empowering way to community action and relevant artists and change-makers. This fall, when there is additional time for free choice, we are launching a part of the studio that integrates a tinker/maker corner in the studio in addition to our play and book area. Price includes all materials, teachers and the sweetness of the studio! We can’t wait to get into the studio for this powerful series that allows our children to be empowered, creative change agents!

We see it as an honor to support the individual voice and creativity of your children!
WHERE At the studio! – Love Lab Studio @ 26 Brackett Street, Portland Maine, adjacent to a beautiful city park and nearby playground. We are located in a mixed residential and commercial area, and usually, there is ample parking available. We are located next to the sweet new cafe “smalls” opening mid October 2021. AND! For October into the fall, we will be able to get outside to make art when we can! We have the beautiful park for doing art, and we have the sweet back courtyard!
PLEASE BRING Please have children bring a water bottle, a little sweater, and a cozy pair of slippers if you have them (socks are OK too) to wear in our studio during the fall and winter. Prior to starting class, each student must sign and return our student info sheet packet (includes media form, release form, and other important info).
HEALTHY POLICY The studio is following strict guidelines for Covid safety and health of all children and the community and will continue to follow the CDC updates. For current studio programming, given the age of our children, all children and adults will be masked in and outside of the studio (except when distanced for lunch and snack and can take a break distanced outside when doing art if applicable). If something happens Covid related and we can’t meet in person at the studio, we will take the studio virtual for your children and make art kits until we are able to meet in person again. If children are unable to attend due to illness, we will package into an art kit our projects for them to do at home. The studio has ceiling fans, high-quality HEPA filters, and windows to keep the air moving. We sanitize and clean all surfaces daily and as we go. We feel with care and community partnership we can all strive to keep our community healthy.
ALSO Children are dropped off at 3:30 pm, and picked up at 5:15 pm. Please have a snack before you arrive! We will take tea/water breaks. At the end of each month’s session, children will take Art home. See you soon at the studio! NOTE: We have had a few requests for children whose school day is later, if this is your child we are able to accommodate a tad later drop off, with pick up at 5:30. One important thing to consider is that your child is able to have time to eat a good snack before they come! Reach out with any questions.
